How to bridge from AVAX to Polygon with Metamask

The most simple way to bridge from Avalanche to Polygon with your Metamask wallet is by going through Synapse, a bridging protocol with access to both blockchains. It allows users to quickly swap tokens between chains with ease and security.

Follow the below steps to get started:

  1. Visit the Synapse protocol
  2. Select 'Connect Metamask Wallet'
  3. Click 'Avalanche' and 'Polygon' under network
  4. Enter the amount of stable coin you wish to bridge (in the example below we use USDC)
  5. Press 'Approve USDC' and follow the prompts

After around 2 minutes, your USDC should arrive in your Metamask wallet on the Polygon (MATIC) Network. To check, simply click the fox button on your Chrome browser, select the Matic Mainnet network and you will see your funds under the token you sent.

AVAX to Polygon Bridge Fees

When bridging USDC or any token from the Avalanche C-Chain network to the Polygon Matic Mainnet, you will need to consider the following fees that are involved.

  1. Transaction fee to deposit funds (USDC) into your Metamask Wallet
  2. Transfer of Token from Avalanche C Chain to Polygon network

Both transactions will cost you up to $20 USD to move your funds over to the Polygon network. However, once your funds have arrived to the Polygon network, the costs to move funds around comes to about 10 cent per transaction.
