How to bridge from ETH to Cronos
In this simple guide, we show you the easiest way to bridge from ETH to Cronos via your Metamask trust wallet. You will need to connect your Metamask wallet to Synapse, a multi-chain bridging protocol.
Yes, there are two ways to bridge from Ethereum to the Cronos network. We recommend using Synapse, it is a bridging protocol that is deployed across multiple chains. They are Ethreum, Terra, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Aurora, Binance Smart Chain, Boba Network, Cronos, DFK Chain, Fantom, Harmony, Polygon, Metis, Moonbeam, Moonriver & Optimism.
If you want to use an alternative bridging protocol to Synapse, you can do it through the CRO networks native bridge, Cronos Bridge. However, we found that compared to Synapse, the Cronos bridge can be a little bit more expensive when moving from ETH to Cronos. If you would like to avoid high bridging fees, we recommend using Synapse.
Unfortunately when bridging between Cronos and Ethereum, the only two cryptocurrencies available to bridge are SYN, the native token of Synapse and gOHM (Olympus DAO). We recommend using the token SYN to use this bridging protocol as Olympus DAO's token has dropped significantly in price and is an extremely volatile token.
Follow the below steps to get started on bridging ETH to CRO:
After around 2-3 minutes, your SYN should arrive in your Metamask trust wallet on the Cronos Network. To check if they have arrived, simply click the fox button on your Chrome browser, select the Cronos network and you will see your funds under 'SYN'.
When bridging cryptocurrencies from the Ethereum network to the Cronos Network, you will need to consider the following fees that are involved.
Both transactions will cost you up to $50 USD to move your funds over to the Cronosnetwork. However, once your funds have arrived to the Cronos network, the costs to move funds around comes to about $1 per transaction,.
Yes, Synapse is a secure protocol to bridge your cryptocurrencies between networks. If you are having issues with bridging (if your funds haven't arrived) you can contact the Synapse customer support team via Telegram, Twitter or Discord. Their online communities are available to contact 24/7 Mon-Fri.
